Ray Gallery is pleased to announce Emotion, It is in the Air, a solo exhibition of Sungyeon Park. Park engages the everyday. Through a myriad of media – video, installation, drawing, etc – Park brings attention to the subtle grace of indirect objects and experiences that we partake in. Her work revitalizes moments and raises them out of banality.
Emotion, It is in the Air exhibits works that explore how we experience sudden emotions on a daily basis. Park works with photography, film, and ceramic sculptures to analyze these affecting instances. Bringing them to the forefront and making them the center of scrutiny and introspection
Sungyeon Park received her D.F.A from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, South Korea. Park has participated in a number of international residencies and fellowships, which include an artist in residence at The Macdowell Colony Residence, ISCP, and an artist fellowship in Taipei Artist Village of AIR Taipei. Park is also the recipient of the 2011 Global Ph. D. Fellowship by the National Research Foundation of Korea. The majority of her solo and group exhibitions have taken place in Seoul, South Korea, however, she has participated in exhibitions in New York City, London, and Düsseldorf.
